Many people are sharing their understandings of the Universe Story, or The Great Story, or Big History. One of the threads in that story is the story of evolution of vertebrates on this planet. Connie Barlow and her husband Michael Dowd say our brain is a layered creation of this evolution.
Connie lays it out in the first few minutes of this video and then Connie and Michael go on to talk about implications for child-raising, addiction, training for emergencies and more. They are speaking to a church congregation with its natural preoccupations, somewhat different than mine. Still, I have found this way of thinking about our lives extremely helpful.
