Welcome & Overview

12/1/11 Overview

Here at age 67, my life foci seem to be

  • The Inner Journey
  • Sharing about:
  1. The possibility of discovering and following personal guidance
  2. Preparing, à la Transition Town, for the deconstruction of Industrial Civilization and
  3. Entry into the Ecozoic Age. Mary Coelho’s book, Awakening Universe, Emerging Personhood continues to be my favorite reference.

My main reference-group is Upper Midwest Quakers. These are the people I have practice talking to, and are the audience I have in mind on this website. Others are welcome and encouraged take part in this.

Friends without much experience looking at this kind of website, can click here for some help navigating my website.

I will come back to this page with amendments as the reorganization described just below develops.

11/11/11 Welcome to my website!

This is a kind of public journal and it’s getting a major re-do, starting in the fall of 2011.
I plan to leave the posts as they are but the “Pages” will be considerably re-worked, as a result of my discovering the “Journey of the Universe” story in 2008. This “Universe Story” did not change my mind, rendering the material here obsolete, but it offered a very helpful framework, well supported by the thinking of many others.

Material on this website with dates later than 11/11/11 is guaranteed “fresh.” Stuff with older dates may have been checked and left “as is,” or I may not yet have gone over it carefully. I HAVE skimmed all the posts written before 11/11, and I’m still happy to have them represent me.

The contemporary thinker I was most influenced by, before discovering the Universe Story, is Rupert Sheldrake, a biologist from Britain. His book, The Presence of the Past: Morphic Resonance and the Habits of Nature, sketched out the world I feel I live in, with far more scholarship than I could ever muster. He’s spent the last decade or so trying to get the scientific establishment to take him seriously, and writing books with broad appeal like Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home. Reviews of these books are on his website, and much more.

I hope you are stimulated by my thinking, and I hope to hear from you, as one of many Gaia Voices,
Richard
